9:10 - 10:00 Church Security and the Law presented by Scott Brown
The subject of Church Security is dualistic. We want to be safe, but we must remain accepting and loving of all. This presentation will discuss the legal and practical ways of finding this balance.

10:15 - 11:15 The Sexual Revolution in the Law and Implications for Freedom of Churches and Other Ministries presented by L. Martin Nussbaum The advance of sexual rights for GLBT and gender dysphoric individuals has moved with breathtaking scope and speed. Arguments to be free of discrimination have morphed into mandates for employer-provided benefits and for unlimited access to private facilities coupled with threats of “shaming” and boycott. This presentation will examine the development of this law and steps religious employers might take to conduct their ministries consistently with their values.
11:15 - 12:15 Fair Labor Standards Act Update: What Churches Need to Know in 2017 presented by Melanie Pate
This session will provide an update regarding the recent changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act's overtime regulations and the practical implications for religious institutions. The presentation will also include information about Arizona's new minimum wage and paid sick time laws.

1:15 - 2:15 Parochial School Pitfalls … And How to Avoid Them presented by David Garner
Traps for the unwary await religious organizations engaged in, or who consider offering, private schools services, preschools, or partnering with charter schools. This presentation will explore some of those traps, and how to navigate around them, including: the legal nature of the relationship between students/parents and parochial schools, potential applicability of privacy laws and best practices related to student records, child abuse reporting obligations, and more.
2:15 - 3:15 The Care and Feeding of Donor Taxpayers presented by Amanda Thatcher This presentation will focus on tax-incentivized donations and what donation recipients can do to help donors receive their maximum tax deductions for charitable giving. Some restrictions on donations as well as other areas of concern will also be addressed.
