Lewis Roca Lawyer Recognized as 2020 Liberty Bell Award Recipient

LAS VEGAS (November 19, 2020) – Lewis Roca announced Ogonna Brown has been recognized as one of The Liberty Bell Award recipients for 2020 presented by the Clark County Law Foundation’s Let Freedom Ring Committee. This prestigious award is presented to individuals in the community who have upheld the rule of law, contributed to good government within the community, portray a sense of civic responsibility and exemplify respect for the law in the courts. Brown is being recognized for her longstanding commitment to the community, including the hundreds of hours she has devoted to mentoring and pro bono work. She is also being recognized for her participation on boards and leadership positions throughout the Nevada State Bar and the Las Vegas community.

As a partner and member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, Brown practices in the areas of complex business litigation and bankruptcy, focusing on creditors’ rights. She is passionate about mentoring up-and-coming lawyers and taking pro bono cases, staying active with the William S. Boyd School of Law’s mentoring programs and with Legal Aid of Southern Nevada. Most recently, Brown was appointed by Governor Sisolak to a four-year term serving as a member of The Nevada Gaming Commission. She also donates to Shade Tree, the Goodwill of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada.

Brown is a former office holder and board member of the Southern Nevada Association of Bankruptcy Attorneys and a barrister and executive committee member with the Howard D. McKibben Inn of Court. She was inducted into the American College of Bankruptcy as a Fellow in 2018. She was a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Johnnie B. Rawlinson, United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, from 2001 through 2002 and a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals from 2014 through 2016. During this time, Brown served as Lawyer Representative Co-Chair of the Nevada Delegation and member of the Lawyer Representative Coordinating Committee, District Conference Planning Committee and the Attorney Admission Fund Advisory Group Committee. While serving as a Lawyer Representative, Brown assisted Bankruptcy Judges with presentations for the Bankruptcy Breakout Sessions at the Judicial District Conferences and attended and participated with the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference program.
