Press Release

DENVER – Lewis Roca is now partnering with the Outdoor Industry Association for exclusive access to a comprehensive array of cost-effective legal services for OIA members through the firm’s intellectual property, litigation, business transactions and regulatory practice groups.

Lewis Roca will also provide educational content through OIA’s media channels and at OIA events.

“The partnership with Lewis Roca is a great fit for our members. Not only is the law firm well-regarded, its lawyers include avid adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts as demonstrated by its dedicated Sports & Outdoor Recreation Industry Team. They understand our industry, our markets and our challenges,” said OIA Vice President – Membership and Sales Matt Kaplan.

“Lewis Roca has the depth of legal experience that companies and entrepreneurs demand to fuel growth, mitigate risk and achieve business goals. We are actively involved in outdoor pursuits and speak the language of outdoor recreation,” noted Sports & Outdoor Recreation Team co-leader and extreme adventurer Doug Tumminello.

“Because we are active in the outdoor community, our lawyers bring a deep, personal understanding of the industry, its products and the legal issues facing manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and retailers in this dynamic market,” added Tumminello.

Based in Boulder, Colo., the OIA serves more than 1200 manufacturers, retailers, distributors, suppliers, sales representatives, nonprofits and outdoorists. In collaboration with its members, the OIA is a force for the industry in recreation and trade policy, sustainable business innovation and increasing outdoor participation.

According to the OIA, the outdoor recreation economy generates $887 billion in annual consumer spending, $65.3 billion in federal tax revenue and an additional $59.2 billion in state and local tax revenue each year. In job creation alone, outdoor recreation is responsible for 7.6 million American jobs, exceeding computer technology (6.7 million), construction (6.4 million), and finance and insurance (6 million).
