- Lewis and Roca represents both Landlords and Tenants in the restaurant/retail arena. We represent these clients with respect to their real estate needs, as well as employment issues, intellectual property issues and litigation (if that arises).
- Represents national restaurant company in the negotiation of commercial leases and acquisition and development of property.
- Represents several restaurant chains in connection with their leasing agreements, licensure issues and disputes.
- Represented major hotel/casino in the successful bid award of the right to develop, construct and build a riverboat casino project in St. Louis, Missouri. In connection therewith, negotiated partnership agreement, development agreements, ground lease and financing arrangements for the project.
- Represented privately-held real estate development companies in the land acquisition for, and development, construction, and leasing of, retail centers.
- Represented large and small companies with regard to all aspects of commercial and office leasing.
- Represented major biotech clients in California on leasing of both office and laboratory space. One of these leases was dubbed the "Best Office Lease - 2002" by the San Francisco Business Journal.
- Represented privately-held real estate development companies in the land acquisition for, and development, construction and leasing of, retail centers.
- Represented a national grocery chain in the land acquisition, development and construction of regional distribution center and grocery store sites.
- Represented a large national company in the development and leasing of industrial and business parks.
- Represented a large savings and loan association in connection with real estate development, real estate lending, loan workouts, foreclosures, land development, and savings and loan regulatory matters.
- Represented lenders in a variety of real estate finance transactions, including leasehold financing, the financing of construction projects, and financing in connection with the acquisition of improved properties.
- Represented large self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust in connection with retail leasing across the nation.

- On the Landlord side we represent a self managed, self administered real estate investment trust (and many of its joint ventures) in various markets across the country. The client is a REIT that owns approximately 500 properties and over 100 million square feet nationwide.
- We also represent and an insurance company with respect to its role as a Landlord and equity investor in joint venture development projects nationwide.

- Represented national and privately-held real estate development companies in obtaining the land entitlements for, and development and construction of, residential subdivisions.
- Represented local businesses in plan amendment, rezoning, variance, and other governmental entitlement actions.
- Negotiated development agreements between national and local developers and property owners and governmental entities and state agencies to memorialize land development entitlements and infrastructure responsibilities.
- Represented private property owners and industry groups in drafting and negotiating with government in the adoption of land use legislation affecting commercial and residential development including "big box" ordinances, impact fee ordinances, planned community development regulations, sign code amendments, and lighting code amendments.
- Represented local businesses in plan amendment, rezoning, variance, and other governmental entitlement actions.
- We served as borrower’s counsel in a complex credit enhancement transaction which involved the issuance by the client of a significant amount of commercial paper in the New York commercial paper market backed by a letter of credit issued by an offshore lender. The risks of the offshore lender and the obligations of the borrower to the offshore lender were collateralized by a first lien deed of trust upon a major resort property and related collateral. The amount involved was in excess of $60,000,000.00.
- We served as special Arizona counsel in a multi-state secured real property financing transaction where the lenders were a consortium of life insurance companies and banks. The transaction involved the use of a special purpose corporation as the borrower and, in addition to the usual collateral involved in a loan transaction secured by improved real estate, a trust indenture and other agreements. While we were not primarily responsible for the drafting of these documents, we did review and offer comment with respect to each of them and were primarily responsible for all Arizona aspects of the transaction including the drafting of the Arizona collateral documents.
- We negotiated, on behalf of a developer, an agreement to enter into a joint venture partnership with a major life insurance company at the time of the completion by the developer of a large apartment project. Included in the transaction was the negotiation of the form of the joint venture agreement between the developer and the life insurance company and related matters.
- We obtained acquisition of a ranch and citrus packing house in Yuma to create the largest lemon producing operation in the Southwest.
- We obtained acquisition of a site for a regional shopping mall in Tempe for a large Arizona-based, publicly held, residential and commercial development corporation.
- We negotiated a license agreement between our client, a state university, and the city’s NFL franchise for use of the client’s stadium for the franchise’s home games.
