Mariela Hollines
Law School: University of Colorado
Undergraduate: University of Northern Colorado - Economics and Africana Studies
Meet Mariela Hollines, the latest addition to the Lewis Roca Michael D. Nosler Scholarship program. Born and raised in Colorado, Mariela has always maintained a strong connection to her community. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado, majoring in Economics with a minor in Africana Studies. Now in her second year at the University of Colorado Law School, Mariela is on a path to making a meaningful impact in the legal field.
Her passion for pro bono work and commitment to community service were ignited by reading Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. The book opened her eyes to the profound difference lawyers can make in underserved communities, inspiring her to pursue a legal career. Mariela is deeply motivated by the opportunity to be an advocate for marginalized individuals and has committed herself to using her legal education to create change.
While still exploring her specific area of legal focus, Mariela has a growing interest in real estate law. She was drawn to Lewis Roca by the firm’s diverse practice areas and values the supportive environment and breadth of experience it offers her. Mariela views this scholarship as a key step in her journey—not only for honing her legal writing and networking skills but also for helping her discover her focus within the legal profession.
In her free time, Mariela embraces Colorado’s outdoor lifestyle. Whether she’s hiking scenic trails, going for a run, or spending time by the water, she finds joy in staying active and connecting with nature. A dedicated gym-goer, she makes an effort to exercise daily. When she’s not on the move, Mariela enjoys relaxing with her favorite podcasts, including The Daily and This American Life.
